Ear Wax: Restoring Your Hearing

The production of ear wax is your body's natural defense. It cleans your ears, reduces bacteria growth, and keeps dirt from getting into your ear canal.

Once formed, ear wax moves through the ear canal on its own, with your help as you speak and digest your food. As ear wax gets in contact with the ear's surface, they fall off. Sometimes, ear wax could accumulate or get stuck.

Ear Wax Removal

When the ear generates ear wax more quickly than the body can clear, a backlog develops. This may arise from any of the following:

     Tiny ear canal

     Swimmer's ear

     Eczema

     Autoimmune illnesses

Putting objects in your ear can induce ear wax development, therefore advise children not to place anything inside their ears.

Can Ear Wax Removal Cause Bleeding?

Ear wax removal is a reasonably simple and quick operation that a pharmacist can do. It is unusual for a treatment to generate an adverse reaction that is so uncomfortable that it strongly influences the patient's overall quality of life.

Some people may feel dizzy or disoriented after ear wax removal, but this should pass soon. Since the ear removal gear is soft and doesn't reach deep into the ear, there shouldn’t be any bleeding.

However, if you do have bleeding, it's usually because of an underlying medical condition. In this case, see your GP as soon as possible. Keep in mind, however, that some general medical practices do not remove ear wax.

Some professionals can remove ear wax both by suction tubing it out and washing the inner ear with water (micro suction). These treatments rarely cause any irritation at all. There is a fee to pay to have them done in private.
